Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your email address and optionally your name. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address and message.

We do not collect any other personal information. We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not use analytics that identify individual users.

Why we collect it

• Newsletter: To send you updates about new policies, bills, election news and candidate information.
• Contact form: To respond to your enquiry or update request.
• Policy Calculator: When you complete the calculator, we capture your responses to the voting intention questions (who you voted for in 2023, who you plan to vote for in 2026) and what issues matter most to you. No names, email addresses or identifying information are collected - these responses are completely anonymous.

How we store it

Your information is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform with encryption at rest and in transit. Only the site administrators have access to this data.

We do not sell, share or provide your personal information to any third party. Your email address will never be shared with political parties, candidates or any other organisation.

Anonymous calculator data: The anonymous, aggregated voting intention and policy preference data collected through the Policy Calculator may be shared with third-party analysts for research purposes. This data contains no names, email addresses, or any information that could identify an individual. It is purely statistical data showing voting trends and policy priorities.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Access any personal information we hold about you
• Correct any information that is inaccurate
• Request deletion of your information at any time
• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time

When you unsubscribe from the newsletter, your information is deleted immediately. We do not retain your data after you opt out.

News content

The news section displays headlines and short excerpts from publicly available RSS feeds from RNZ, Newsroom, Stuff and The Spinoff. We link to the original article and never reproduce full content. All news sources are attributed and credited.

Candidate information

Candidate profiles, photos and biographical information are sourced from official party websites, Wikipedia, news articles and publicly available records. If you are a candidate and would like your information updated or removed, please contact us.

Independence

POLATIX New Zealand is independent and non-partisan. We are not affiliated with, funded by or endorsed by any political party, government agency or media organisation. We do not accept political advertising or sponsorship.
